James smiled hugely as he watched, not even realizing he looked like a fool. Ayanna scurried into place. She noticed Shaila looked more relaxed han she had since her father had passed away. She glanced toward he window to see him watching and smirked. "Oh, Rana," she cooed. "Look there." She gestured just before he music started. "What? She looked and blushed."Oh be quiet. He's allowed to watch if he wants. Don't mess me up," she grumbled, hurrying into place. She really hope she could hurry off after dance before Ayanna confronted her. Ayanna giggled then moved into her first waiting position and began counting beats. She slowly began moving through the slow movements that began the dance and later would continue while Rana moved through a tough series of moves. James shivered a little as the wind picked up. The sweat he'd worked up had left him a little wet and now with the wind blowing he was feeling it. He looked up and moved a little to get more into the sun. He saw Rana get into position and lost himself in the dance as he watched her. Rana smiled and then slowly moved into her solo piece. "Stalking someone?" Darren asked sneaking up behind James and poking him. James jumped and looked around. "Dance class, look in. They look like birds." He moved and let Darren peer in as well once he climbed on the ledge. Rana had forgotten everything, truly becoming a bird in the dance Ayanna moved off to the side with the others clearing space for Rana's solo. She looked at the window and saw now there was James and another boy. She smiled then focused on the dance again. Professor Natasha watched the dance with approval nodding and semi leading Rana through the steps. Rana was getting nervous. What if she couldnt do this on her own at the recital. James saw her expression. "You can do it," he whispered. Rana swallowed as she got to a particularly complicated set and focused, performing it perfectly. James forgot he wasn't watching a show and began clapping until Darren poked him in the side. James growled as pain surged from the simple poke and shoved him hard. "Very good, Rana," Professor Natasha called over the music as Rana went through a particularly hard part. "You've got it!" Rana blushed. "Thank you Professor she said as they moved into the finale of the dance. "Jerk," Darren said and shoved him back then looked inside. "Look at her, she's so great." James watched Rana, mesmerized. Birds ended and the next dance went into play. They went throgh all the dances and then it was the last dance and Rana's. This was one she was nervous. She started off by singing as the others danced and then did a final solo dance. James sat watching the dance, his arm going around himself as he watched. "She's perfect," he said. Professor Natasha clapped as the music drew to a close, her eyes gleaming. "Very good, Rana, very good!" Rana bushed and got up from her sance. She smiled shyly. "Thank you Professor." "Has she shown any interest in you at all?" Darren asked. He saw they were done and slipped off the ledge. "She kissed my cheek earlier," James answered. "I don't think you could get any better," Ayanna said coming up to Rana and breathing hard. Rana looked up and blushed. "Thank you Ayanna...I'm nervous though. All those people...." "Ah, you have nothing to be nervous about. If you forget your steps just stand there and giggle and you'll be fine." "That's a good sign and how do you feel about her?" Darren asked. "Ooh, that's tough," James said. "I want to see her happy, but right now that doesn't include a relationship. I am alright with it though." Rana glared at her. "Not funny!" "Is so," Ayanna said and hugged her. "You don't realize the hold you have over people. Just look!" She gestured to the window where James and Darren talked. James almost seemed to sense her looking and turned his head giving her a thumbs up. "What." She looked. "It' just two boys having a conversation. Se saw James and flushed just the teeniest bit. Rana looked at Ayanna and scowled. "Standing there giggling means making a fool of oneself in front of hundreds of people. She moved to the dressing rooms to change. James watched her disappear into the changing room and slipped off the ledge to wait by the door for her. Ayanna followed her inside the changing area. "Rana, you won't make a fool of yourself. You can do this in your sleep." Rana bit her lip. "Are you sure? She had to do one of them with me...I'm just...getting stage fright," she admitted. "Rana, she didn't have to do them with you, she chose to. I watched her. I watched you. You will do fine. If you get embarrassed just picture the audience in their underwear." Rana swallowed. "You sure?" she asked in a small voice. "I'm positive," Ayanna said and hugged her. "Go get cleaned up and try to relax." Rana nodded and changed. "I'll catch you tomorrow, alright. "I'm tired and have some work to do." She moved and headed out of the building. James saw the door open and turned to face it. "Hello," he said. "That was amazing." Rana blushed deeply. "Um, thank you," she said shyly "Rana, I'm serious. I'm not just saying that. You could go professional if you wanted," James said. The heat from her dancing had activated her perfume even more and it wafted off her. He subconsciously drew closer, inhaling. Rana turned bright red. "You're sweet." she said quietly and kissed his cheek. "Thank you." Darren had discovered James had forgotten his backpack and scooped I up to take to him. He grinned as he saw her kiss his cheek. "James, you fool, go for it." he whispered to himself. "Davis! You forgot your backpack!" he called and jogged I over to him. "Aren't you going to introduce us?" "Yes, I will. Darren this is Rana, Rana meet Darren. He keeps me on rack someimes." James grinned as Darren went to poke him and dodged away. "Great to meet you Rana," Darren said holding out his hand. Rana let out a small smile. "Nice to meet you too," she said quietly, shaking his hand with her soft one, "You looked good in there, have you been dancing long?" Darren asked. James stood there. It was kind of awkward standing around while his friend talked to her. Thank you...since I was little," she admitted, dropping his hand and subconsciously reaching for James "We're heading out...for a modelling session," James said quickly. Darren smiled. "Of course, go right ahead." His smile became a grin as he looked at James then moved away. "Bye Darren," she said quiety and took James hand. "I'm starved," she laughed. "Do you want to head back....." she paused. "Yes, there's still some left over unless you want to go out to eat," James said. His hand around hers felt so right. "Rana wasn't one to ask someone to do something for her, especially asking a boy to take her out somewhere. "Whatever...I just need to eat. I'm always hungry after dance." she blushed. |
