James held his hand out for her. "Most likely. Let's go before they get any ideas." Rana nodded and took his and shyly. James helped her to her feet and they walked away from the grove. "It's still a great place." "Yes..I do love it..." "If you aren't interrupted by angry owls you could picture all sorts of things happening there." James subconsciously headed back to his own house with her. "We'll have to go back when it isn't mating season.... "I'm not sure when mating season ends. We can google it," James said. He paused as he realized he was at his house. "Want to come in?" "Um, yeah sure," she sad shyly. James smiled at her shyness. "I won't do anything, I promise. And I certainly didn't plan on having such a close visit from the owl." "I trust you," she said quietly. James unlocked his door and they went inside. He wished he'd had the foresight to clean up a little, but he wasn't planning on bringing anyone home. "Make yourself at home," he said. He hurriedly moved stuff so she could do just that. Shaila looked around and saw his drawings "You are really talented." James turned bright red. "Thank you. I appreciate your compliment." He rubbed the back of his neck after setting a stack of books down on the floor against the wall. "I'll be right back, okay?" Rana nodded. "Ok." She found a spot on the sofa and sat after looking at all his drawings. James moved into the other room and closed the door then leaned against it looking at the ceiling. "This isn't a date, James, calm yourself down. She needs time and a friend," he hissed in a whisper to himself. Rana looked around It was a cute place.messy, but cute. "Are you warm enough?" James called through the door. "I can get you a blanket if you're cold." "No... I'm just fine," Rana called. "Alright," James said as he opened the door. "Um, so do you like any specific kind of music?" "Soft music, I guess..." James moved to a corner and flicked on a station of classical music. Piano strains filled the room. "Okay?" he asked. "That's fine...it's pretty," she called "I like it. I can play a little, nothing much," James said. "I'd like to hear sometime." "I don't have a piano here," James said. He moved to the kitchen turning on a couple of nightlights so there was soft light as well. "Maybe at school?" she asked. "Maybe," James said. "Do you do other things besides dance and enjoy the outdoors?" He was beginning to look tired. "Sing," she admitted. "And I play the harp."She paused. "You look tired. Maybe I should go." "I would like to hear you as well," James said. "Maybe we could play together sometime." He sighed. "I'll walk you home. I am a little tired. Not sleeping well lately with all the tests and stuff." "Sometime," she agreed. She grabbed her purse. "Thank you James." James gave her a tired smile and held his hand out to help her to her feet. "Will you model tomorrow?" "If you would like me to," she said quietly. "I don't want to steal you away from something else," he said walking beside her. "You most likely have plans. "No...actually I don't," she admitted. James bit back an excited smile. "Me neither." 'Well...then I will model" "And I will draw or paint," James said. He saw her house coming up. "And don't worry, things will work out for you." "You feel more positive than I do," she whispered. "But I thank you." "I do feel positive and I'm sure my lawyer can help. I'll call him tomorrow and see what can be done." He paused with her by her door. "Goodnight, Rana." "Thank you....Goodnight James...." James smiled. "Sweet dreams." He felt kind of awkward then and turned to go home. "See you tomorrow at the grove at three?" he asked over his shoulder. At three," Rana replied as she unlocked her door. James turned away knowing she was safely home and began walking. It didn't take him long to get home, but he was worn out. He unlocked his door and moved inside flipping off the music and heading to bed. |
