What a great point! I'm also at the point in my novel where I've gone off my outline and need to find a way to get back on track so that I can get to the ending I have planned (and already written!)

I think sometimes we as writers are afraid of conflict. I know I am. I'm afraid that if I keep throwing road blocks at my characters that they'll never be able to find their way to the end. Actually. I'm afraid that I won't be able to get them there. This year, for the first time, I've decided to really up the dramatic tension by throwing all kinds of stuff at my characters. And you know what? I may not know how to get them out of all these situations just yet, but I'm having a great time riding along with them! My writing is going faster and more smoothly because I keep upping my odds for my characters.
