October Novel Prep Challenge

I'm stuck on this one (and would have posted this sooner but I've had connection problems all night). Hopefully I will get an answer to this question from one of the professional photographers in the forum some time tomorrow.

Bit of an obscure question, but I need to know what make and model of camera you consider was state of the art in 2004 for shooting child models - still pictures and videos, in a studio and outdoors on location. Would you have recommended 4 different cameras dedicated to each task?
