My process is very much like yours, Nikola. I make sure to look at the picture early, so I have time to work out all or part of what I intend to write. Sometimes the idea is fully formed, but twists as has been mentioned. Other times, though, just the nugget of an idea is present and I have to chase the idea as I write. I should add that I've already asked myself a lot of questions about the storyline, so I don't chase my tail as I follow the story. The questioning part seems to be especially important for me.
