I didn't read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but the next in the series, The Girl Who Played With Fire. It begins with a vivid recollection of an incident in the past, then moves on to continue the story of Lisbeth in all her guises, which is brought up in connection with other scenes in the story (no spoilers will I give). There is enough revealed of the initial story of Lisbeth through conversation and interaction among characters who apparently return from the initial story. Some issues are fully resolved, but enough remains to allude to the continuation of Lisbeth's story, though I could read as a stand-alone. I've put The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest on my 'to read' list, then maybe go backward and see where it all began ^_^.
Thanks for bringing this to the forefront as I begin my reading journey with you guys ^_^
