Please leave a message and we'll get back to you... |
It's a little late in coming, but what else is new? Weekends tend to be uber busy around here. I read through the rant about Alice and the varying viewpoints on it. I guess I am caught somewhere in the middle. I've been the recipient of her reviews in the past. The can and often do come across as very nasty and condescending. Her pointing out her accomplishments, be they what they are, after receiving curt, biting remarks is much akin to having salt rubbed into a raw wound. I think all of us post our work with the hope of getting some kind of feedback. We want to know what can be improved, but I also think it is very important to know what you did right....we want to hear what works along with what didn't. I'm not so sure it's the review itself that is upsetting, but the manner in which it's presented. It's important to have tact....to offer encouragement as well as criticism. Every story, no matter how much work it might need still has something redeeming about it. I tried to point this out to this particular reviewer in the past and it ended up being a point of contention. I'm sorry, but I'm still of the opinion that if you read something and can't find ANYTHING nice to say, then you probably shouldn't review it. Not everyone here has the same goals, experience, or determination. A cold, harsh review with nothing but criticism and no good comments could actually discourage a new writer from ever trying it again. I don't know. I doubt Alice will ever change. I think this can be an example for the rest of us though about what could be done to prevent being viewed in that light. Those of you who have got a reveiw from me know I don't hold back...I give my opinions both good and bad, but I always try to give a balance of each and be as respectful and encouraging of the author and the story that I can....and I think most of you do the same. That is all. Hope you all had a great weekend. ![]() ~Best wishes always~ Adri ![]() ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
