I appreciate your insight into Alice. I am glad I did not send that rant directly to her, and I admit that I was having some difficulty with other things last night when I wrote it. I did it to blow off steam.

Being thick skinned is not the issue for me here. It is hypocrisy. For someone to give me the old one two in a review is not a problem. Everyone has a right to their opinion. For someone to do it to my friend is a curiosity at best, but again, such is the life of a potential writer and their friends. But to know that the person who wrote said review is attempting to tear down others in the name of some useless vendetta and then hide behind a disability is unnerving. I have an autistic brother and I found it very insulting.

I'm not of a mind to be mean to people when I review, but I will always be honest. And I can appreciate how difficult that must be to write a truly critical review for someone who is for all other intents and purposes your friend. But that will not stop me, especially since that's probably what that friend is looking for. The honing of the craft is also important, and I would expect the same understanding from that friend when it comes to my work.
