Shaila nodded a little. "We can try..." "Alright, why don't you go on home and get some rest. As soon as I know more I will contact you," he said. "And if you need me, call me." He gave her a card with his personal cell number. Shaila took the card. "Thank you...for everything." He beamed at her. "I have to keep my star students, right? It's in my best interest to keep you here." "It means so much..I won't ever forget...." "Maybe if we win this we can set a precedent in case it happens to someone else," he said. "I'm counting on you finishing the school year with me. Have you also considered tutoring? You could also maybe be a nanny." James finished his last class and went back to his housing. Before he knew it, his eyes had closed and he was deeply asleep. "I've been trying to think what to do," Shaila replied "I'll talk to my colleagues and see if there is something we can offer. Perhaps a teacher's assistant or something." He rose and paced around a little. "It's going to be tricky keeping up with your regular work too." "I know, but I don't really have a choice. I don't want to leave school...I've worked too hard t get here." "No one wants you to leave except some pencil pusher locked away in a room somewhere," he said with a frown. "Well, let me talk to the other professors and we'll figure it out as best as we can." "Thank you so much!" She managed a weak smile. "Rana, I thank you. I don't think you realize how much effect you have on my class. I honestly believe they would not be as far as they are without you here." "You speak to highly of me, professor." "I brag on my star students," he said grinning. "Go on now and enjoy your weekend. Oh and don't forget to do your chapter on medications." "I won'. Thank you." She grabbed her things, hurrying from the room |
