The bell rang suddenly and James began to pack his supplies. He usually was paying attention and began packing up a couple of minutes early because his class was all the way across campus. Tonight, he'd been distracted. Professor Tyler switched the music off and moved to Rana's side. "Thank you so much for a great job tonight." He held some money in his hand. Shaila took the money."Thank you so much Professor," she said quietly, curtsying. James grabbed his packed bag and hurried out with a sideways glance to where Rana talked to the professor. He couldn't wait around to talk to her or he'd be late and that professor had a very strict attendance policy. Maybe he could catch her around campus or ask the professor for more info. "Rana, you don't have to curtsy to me," professor Tyler said. "I am only paying you what you've earned. I hope it wasn't too stressful." Shaila blushd. "Habit....It was a little scary, but not too bad... He smiled as he watched her. "It's not a bad habit, don't go breaking it on my account." He beamed at her. "So, would you like to come back next week?" Shailanodded. Yes, please...every little bit helps." "Perfect, I'll see you next week then. And don't worry, we don't bite." He grinned at her. "Unless you bite first." Shaila laughed. "Thank you." She grinned and waved before hurrying off to get to her next class. James slid into class with seconds to spare, breathing hard and trying to smooth his windblown hair down. He had trouble focusing on anything but her as he dutifully took notes. The weekend couldn't come fast enough in his view. Shaila slid into her seat and took out her books. She reall wasnt so sure she could focus on Psychologhy right now. "Tonight we're going to be covering the effects of drugs on the body," her professor said. He smiled around the class. "I'd offer a hands on experience but the school wouldn't allow it." The class broke into light laughter. Shaila wayched, breaking out of her thoughts. She loved the professor...He had a sense of humr and could mae class interesting. She hadnt been able to lasugh though sonceher father passed. "So, knowing the drugs are addicting, illegal and very expensive why do people still use them? Anybody?" The professor scanned the room looking at the sea of faces. "Because they are pesured by someone or other and a lot of it starts at an age where people are seeking acceptance." |
