We like it hot and sexy! |
Hey Tim, I don't like all the rules either but unfortunately not everyone pulls their own weight all the time--me included nowadays. The one a week rule was to keep people in and involved. It was only one so as not to overwhelm but with the gazillion things I do now, one can be extremely overwhemling and I suspect that's true for others, too. Believe me I HATED having to tally and shift the boards weekly. I tried to get others to agree to some different, easier, less time-consuming way to handle that. But it didn't happen. One of the things that slows me down in here is the WritingML since I'm now used to Word's Track Changes. Formatting the space between paragraphs also slows me down and then I have to go and delete them when it's time to sub a manuscript for publication. I don't like that authors have to pay to be in here and have mass items in their portfolio. So basically, this is not the ideal crit group for me, but because of the people in here, I love it and I do what I have to do to be in here when I have the time. That said, there are other ways to have a crit group online, like Yahoo Groups which is totally free and can have settings on it to make a group private etc. I like what you said about your prior group and how it was rather laid back. I had the pleasure of meeting Diana at an RWA function a couple months back. She was a delight to visit with and very entertaining.
