Outlining. Where do I start. I don't think it comes more seat of the pants than me. I built my world, my magic system, my combat system, my main characters and have them stored in about 20 to 30 different notebooks. My outlining if it can be called that is often disorganized and based off one scene and I work from there. I use sticky notes for the beginning of that scene. The rest is spent typing the actual chapter. There was a time i used to write a long outline, then write the chapter, then type it all. Now, I don't. Maybe it's a product of me knowing my world so well. Simply put, I write. Nowadays my outline is in my head for the most part or maybe 4 or 5 lines on a sticky note. I start off with the character name that the chapter belongs to and away we go. I don't know how but it seems to work for me. The best way I can describe what I do is : I see my world, I see my characters, they talk to me, I talk back. I see their dilemmas, their goals, their dreams. I can smell, feel and touch my world. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** http://terrycsimpson.wordpress.com/ http://terrycsimpson.com/ |
