Hello
by Phoenix Author IconMail Icon
What would you like us to call you?
Phoenix works well.

Are you female or male? (Sometimes we get mixed up with text!)
I'm female.

How old are you? (Ballpark?)
Thirty-six for now *Pthb*.

Do you have a spouse? Siblings? Children?
I'm married with one son. My husband and I have been together for eighteen years, married for fourteen.

How did you find Writing.Com?
I was searching writing sites on Google and stumbled across WDC.

How did you find "I.N.K.E.D." ?
Riot Author Icon mentioned it to me.

Who are your favorite authors?
J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, Khaled Hosseini, Jodi Piccoult, and I'm reading a good book right now by Shana Abe.

What type of writing is your passion?
I tend to write literary fiction.

What genres are you interested in writing? (Or reading?)
I write literary fiction with a focus on what is deemed Chic Lit. *Rolleyes*. I suppose it stems from my obsession with human behavior. I read many genres, though, including fantasy.

What do you hope most to gain by being an active member on this site?
My activity on this site has pushed me to take my hobby writing far more serious, and has exposed me to writers whose pursuit of writing inspires me to work even harder. I hope to push myself to write a book that I would want to read.

What's one thing about this site that you like so far?
The community of writers is the best thing about this site.

If you could give one piece of writing advice, what would it be?
Make time to write, and it's the piece of advice I need to listen to more often *Rolleyes*.

What's the best piece of writing advice you've ever received?
Show don't tell. It sounds cliche, but I feel that thinking about what a character would see, smell, hear, or feel really adds to what I'm writing. I try to remember this in the heat of spilling my ideas, so that the sense of being there doesn't get lost in the narrative.

What is your favorite quote? By who?
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Lao-tzu

What's your favorite color?
I tend toward blues and certain shades of purple.

If you had only 24 hours to live, what would you do?
I would spend the whole day with my family, focusing on my son and husband. I would want to do something exciting, exhilarating even, with my brief 24 hours, but it would have to include my family.

If the whole world were listening, what would you say? (We're not the whole world, but we're listening!)
There will never be enough money, fame, or fancy baubles to fill the hole caused by a lack of personal relationships.

If there was one thing you could do in your life you can't right now, for whatever reason, what would it be and why?
Take a year off of work and write full time. The more time I spend writing and reading about writing; the more I want to spend *Delight*.

If you could spend $10,000 dollars on anything you wanted, what would you do with it?
If I had to spend it, I would plan a family vacation to Hawaii (I want to go to Hawaii so bad). If I could save it though, I would bank three-quarters of it and just take a short vacation instead. I've got to achieve that dream of writing full time somehow *Bigsmile*.
