What would you like us to call you? You can call me Justine (my first name) or Riot Are you female or male? (Sometimes we get mixed up with text!) Yeah, I get that a lot. I'm female. How old are you? (Ballpark?) Twenty-Six Do you have a spouse? Siblings? Children? I don't have children. I'm married to Kaftarian Knight How did you find Writing.Com? I found WDC through Google.Com... I can't remember what I was searching for, but it was purely accidental. How did you find "I.N.K.E.D." ? I created it. Who are your favorite authors? I'm quite fond of Carl Sagan, but I also enjoy Douglas Adams, Terry Brookes, and Alan Alda. What type of writing is your passion? I came here with the intent to write more short stories, however, I've since veered toward abstraction in poetry. What genres are you interested in writing? (Or reading?) I am interested in Philosophy, Political Science, Science Fiction, and pretty much anything else thought-provoking that strikes my fancy at the moment. What do you hope most to gain by being an active member on this site? I've found in having left the site once that the community spirit is what appeals me to return daily. I enjoy feedback on my items, but I think I mostly just like knowing that there's another person out there gazing over my work. What's one thing about this site that you like so far? Again, the community. I also like, aside from personal lack of motivation, that there's almost always something of interest going on. What are some things you feel other members may be able to help you with? I am pretty time-managable, in that I can get the most done with my time. My problem is motivation at times. I'm either really in the mood to get things done, or really not. There's rarely an in-between. To get past this, I like to chat with my friends and remind myself why I'm here. You can really motivate someone by just saying 'hello' once in awhile. If you could give one piece of writing advice, what would it be? Write all the time, even if it's not what you're expecting. Even just emailing someone once in awhile gets your brain in writing mode. Also, try to always put on your best front. Don't ignore grammar or proper sentence structure if you can avoid it. I'm not saying to go over small things with a fine comb because that would be simply maddening... merely, be aware of what you're writing right now. What's the best piece of writing advice you've ever received? The best piece of writing advice I ever recieved was to keep a small notebook or notepad handy and keep it with you at all times. If inspiration hits, or even just a tiny idea, jot it down really quick. You'll be surprised at how often it really helps out during dry spells. What is your favorite quote? By who? "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be discovered." I also really like: "But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright Brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown." Both by Carl Sagan. What's your favorite color? That's a tough one. I like a particular color of purple, but if it's goofed up and too pink or dark I dislike it. I also have a strong attraction to reds and oranges together with yellow, like a sunset. If you had only 24 hours to live, what would you do? Truthfully, I'd probably bawl my eyes out for a bit. I'd want to spend as much of it as possible with my husband. I think, if I could even get over the shock of certain death, I'd want very much to get my affairs in order. I'd want to say goodbye to those that I need to. Then I would be with my husband alone and make peace with the end. If the whole world were listening, what would you say? (We're not the whole world, but we're listening!) You matter. Even if it's on the smallest scale of things, you do. If there was one thing you could do in your life you can't right now, for whatever reason, what would it be and why? Become a mother. I always felt like it was what I was meant for. If one song were to describe your life, what song would it be and who is it by? I'm sure this depends on where I'm at in life, but currently I think the best song that could describe me is "Singing in the Rain" by Gene Kelly. I pick this song because it puts a smile on my face, as the lyrics suggest. Although it's not within my generation of music-goers, it takes me back to care-free times. I feel as though it symbolizes a type of personality, in that you have to find your own kind of happiness. The dark clouds will come, so why not laugh them all away? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmCpOKtN8ME If you could spend $10,000 dollars on anything you wanted, what would you do with it? Oh dear. If it was guilt-free spending, I suppose I'd spoil my husband, family, and friends. However, even guilt free, the Responsible Me has other uses. Being that I just moved, I'd probably want to finish getting necessities that come with living, like lamps, furniture, etc. If there was enough, which who knows these days, I may put a down payment on a house or property. |
