Re: Day 27
The message under the stone today contains a subject dear to my heart: Education--Learning. Though I am a slave, I am a scholar and a teacher. The children of my master, Marcus, have different levels and degrees of learning skills. I know I must teach in stages in order for the children to progress to a higher level of understanding.

The same is true for us, dear friends, as we struggle to learn the lessons taught by Jesus. We started with the declaration from God Himself, a voice which broke through the sky at the moment of Jesus' baptism by John the Baptist: "This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased." So be it. We now have a explanation of the origin of Jesus. We must absorb this first. Let this knowledge settle deep within us--drink it, taste it, feel it. We cannot accept further teachings and events that Jesus is presenting to us until we accept this basic knowledge of who he is.

We have read reports and have witnessed (some of us, first hand) miracles being performed by Jesus all across Galilee. We have been sent information detailing his sermon on the Mount--a New Law, not overshadowed with ritualistic, ridiculous, repetitious, meaningless gestures; but a Law substantiating the untarnished Law given to Moses which Jesus has grounded in love, truth, and integrity. We must stop again and digest this information before we can move on with our developing understanding of who this 'Son of God' is.

Now, today, we are granted another bit of knowledge to place in the pockets of our tunics: We will have tribulations. It is not perchance, it is a definite given, a promise--we will have trouble. But we are not to fear what will happen to us in this world because Jesus has overcome the world and its tribulations. Since we are believers of the Messiah, we have been instructed to be of good cheer in the face of the dangers we face. There is nothing to fear. Jesus will cause PEACE to fall upon us, even in the terror of death.

But we cannot understand this, we cannot accept this gift of calmness and peace if we do not first understand who Jesus is and what he is bringing to this lost people of Israel and the world, both Gentile and Jew.

Forgive my long oration, my friends. But I am, after all, a teacher. Jonathan, pass me the wine, would you? Don't let Rufus see you or he will hound you until you give him some.
