I think poetry, more than fiction or theater has become a closed shop for MFA students and their Oh-so-very-important mentors who make sure that they get fed through the proper channels. There are lots of venues for commercial fiction, and quality commercial fiction at that, but poetry is primarily a process of preaching to the choir.
