It is difficult for me to 'keep quiet', as the message under the stone teaches today. For I have been touched by Jesus in such a way that there is no doubt as to who he truly is. I now fear for his safety. Even here in this orchard, there are many gathered, waiting, watching for Jesus to come over the hill there. They are not here to be baptized or healed or blessed with his teaching. They are here to catch Jesus in a blasphemy or a violation of the law, a law that has become corrupt and twisted to serve those appointed by the Romans to "keep the Jews in line."
[Amos rests by the river, just east of the orchard, and leans against Rufus as the camel drinks from the cool water.}
I wonder how Jesus will continue to preach the true Law of the God of the Jews--my God, now--and protect himself against those who mean him harm. I don't see how it is possible. I will ask him about this when he comes to us, for I feel I can ask him anything. There is a bond between us, me and Jesus.
