Re: Day 9
by A Non-Existent User
I speak again of light and darkness when it comes to the story of Job and other examples of God allowing the devil to tempt us. Perhaps this will show one reason why God allows this.

Think of a cloudy day. As I work outside to make a living, I have seen many of those. After you have spent most of the day with the sun behind the clouds, it startles you to see everything around you suddenly become brighter as the clouds have moved from the sun. But you didn't realize it was dark before. You needed to see both--the darkness and the light--to know the difference.

If God did not allow the devil to tempt us (to show us the darkness) even as God blesses us and teaches us (shows us the light), then how are we to know which is good and which is bad? It is, again, the contrast that allows us to see.
