Well now, this son of a god has gone into the desert? I do not know what he expects to find there.

I understand the Jews believe that there are devils there, or maybe even a devil who can "tempt" people to evil.

I have heard of this Jewish devil. I believe many years ago, I read a Jewish book called, "Job". It was a rather grim piece of work if I recall. In that story, there was a good man named Job who was well-off. Satan came to God and pointed out that it was easy for Job to be good, because he was so well-off. Take away all his things and then see if he is such a good person. Well, God agreed to that little challenge, and the worse it was for Job.

I actually find that rather distressing. This God is so full of himself that he lets Satan talk him into hurting good people. In other words, even this god can be tempted by Satan. How intriguing!

Perhaps our friend in the desert will fare better then God did.
