I believe in keeping my word. My family does as well. It is a basic part of our beliefs.

I cannot see how this makes John a threat, for he seems to speak of this "Word" in a different sense. Rather than a promise, the "Word" of whom he speaks seems to be the Messiah as a representation of the word--or the will, the doctrine, and the truth--of God.

I am not a learned man. Perhaps it is because of that that it is difficult for me to see a challenge in what seem, to me, to be simple, plain, and straightforward words.
