I assume what I'm calling a rail gun is the same as your mass driver, i.e, a weapon that uses electromagnetic impulses to propel a projectile, rather than powder, or some type of explosive propulsion. I certainly may have a need for your advice, as I have a scifi writing project I've been working on that I'd like to keep grounded in a recognizable reality rather than just going straight to fantastical ray guns, but at the same time keep a noticeable futuristic quality to it. As far as "man-amplifiers", my favorite book of all time, "Starship Troopers" makes use of a version. Of course, I've seen it used in the film "Aliens" as a walking forklift/gladiator suit. I'm curious what other uses you've thought of outside the traditional "Mobile Infantry Suit"
