Good definitions! I've been kind of struggling with this because Prayer and Prey is basically a romance. But it doesn't fit the guidelines of a romance novel in that my couple don't even get into the same part of the country until almost two thirds of the way through the book. So I guess it's a love story, rather than a romance. It's certainly not escapist in that there is a lot of bloodshed and violence as well.

I've been pitching it as a cross between Mills & Boon and The Proposition. An uncomfortable partnership if ever I saw one!
