Grammar Basics Assignment Forum

How are you feeling about having been given so much information? Do you see a need to know any of the information you have been given in this lesson. Do you notice when people use incorrect grammar when they speak? Do you correct them? Are you amazed at some of the positions in business and schools people hold who don't use proper grammar?

I do feel a bit overwhelmed at all the information, but I definitely understand the need for this knowledge. As a writer, the more I know about the structural framework that grammar provides the better equipped I am to formulate good sentences.

When I speak with people who speak incorrectly I definitely notice it, I always have. My problem is picking out and identifying grammar inaccuracies in written passages. The biggest eye-opener of my adult life, both professionally and in academic circles, has been the number of professionals who cannot write properly. I always assumed that if you achieved a high position in an organization that you had at least reasonable communication skills, it turns out I was wrong .
