Take each common noun and make them proper.

flower - daffodil flower
building-office building
man - policeman
dog - toy poodle dog
writer- ghostwriter
book - English book
drink - iced tea drink
mountain - snow-capped mountain
city - capitol city

Now take each noun and make them collective

a bunch of people - group
a lot of birds - flock
tons of sheep - herd
lots and lots of books (this one may make you think) - library
many cars for sale -lot
a bunch of flowers - bouquet

Assignment 2

Read each sentence carefully and change the common noun/subject to something more specific. Can be proper, collective, compound, or abstract.

1. The baby slept all night. > The newborn baby slept all night.
2. The car in the driveway was blue. > The brand new convertible car in the driveway was blue.
3. The flowers were in a vase. > The lovely bouquet of flowers were in a vase.
4. If there is enough time, the team will try and score. > If there is enough time, the Vikings football team will try and score.
5. With no one around, the man went dumpster diving. > With no one around the homeless man went dumpster diving.
