That is a very valid point. There is a sense in this book, that it walks a fine line between what the author considers safe territory and stepping into the thicket. Often, I found it bogged down with the plot becoming almost stagnant, as Young delved again into similar platitudes. Perhaps throwing in a plot complication like that would have helped to build the suspense in those areas. It is interesting, that Young chose to ignore that very distinct part of the Christian faith. I can not even begin to surmise his reasoning for that, although comfort zone pops into my mind.
