one last word

I hoped and prayed
as some would say
to hold a faith in kind
and left it to the forces
to which that I was blind

And saw my dreams for what they were
just to watch them fade from view
and all the while regretting
that I knew not what to do

And there it is I come to be
just where I am to day
Not to far from where I started
though I've come a long, long way
