He's faking again,
that's what they all said,
but somehow this time
seemed different to me.

His face, resolute,
never cracked a grin.
Eyes hard as rock
melted my soul.

A single tear dripped
down his weary face.
I'd never noticed before
how old and tired he was.

A jokester he's been
since the day I met him,
always making drama
and paper airplanes.

But now he'd morphed
into a man and we weren't
quite sure what to say.
Our friend was departed.

Sorrow flushed his cheeks
as his companions fled.
For who knows what to do
with lively turned dead?
