Herman Slivosky, 87, entered eternal peace Sunday at the Nearly Departed Rest Home. He was born in 1921 in Steimgarten, Germany, the son of the late Joachim and Berta (Heifitz) Slivosky. He attended Heidelberg University until 1940 when he and his family were relocated to Dachau, Germany. Upon liberation in 1945, Slivosky moved to Brooklyn with his wife, Carol (Boling), whom he’d met and married at Dachau. He worked for 45 years as a driver for Checker Cab in New York City. When his wife died in 1990 he moved to Our Town to be near his foster daughter, Minnie Brown, one of 22 foster children the couple raised. He worshiped at Beth-el Temple in Our Town. Services are scheduled for Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Pearson Parlor on Elm Street. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Holocaust Survivor’s Trust Fund are requested.
