Overheard in a local restaurant on rural Highway 50 in Kansas was a German Mennonite woman speaking to her husband on a cell phone. For those of you who don't know, they dress a lot like the Amish, head covered with a bandanna like scarf and clothed from neck to toe in a long dress.
She held the phone to her mouth, like Captain Kirk to Scotty.
"I am at the restaurant. Over."
Silence.
"I will pick up the children at 3 o'clock. Over."
Silence.
"Yes, I have the parts for the truck. Over."
After a moment, "Goodbye. Over and out."
