hmm...good questions 1 - I always heard 'write something else' and yeah, that never worked for me. Walk away if your mind is just that blank, but one thing that I've found that really helps is the contests on WDC. I find one that sounds interesting and write from the prompt. If you win, added bonus, but that usually helps me get the creativity flowing in a different direction and alleviates the stress of not being able to think about a current project enough to go back to it. 2 - I've done both, even for stories I have outlines for. I think it depends on the person writing, but but I'd say write whatever is in your mind at the moment. Get it on paper/disc while its still fresh in your mind and you have the driving passion to flesh it out. 3 - is a much more vast question. Because we're on a writing board though, and I see a lot of this, I'll pick one specific thing. Don't try and please all of your reviewers, but keep in mind that just because a suggestion angers you, doesn't mean its not right. Don't make the change or delete the review the first time you read it, unless its a change you were going to make anyway. Let it sit, let the idea percolate, and only change it if you agree in the end. While I've only ever received 2 reviews that were truly appropriate to delete and ignore, about half of what I get is not appropriate for my own writing because every reader's preference is different, and so it conflicts completely with the other half of what I get.
