Here's what you sent me, Andante, when we were first talking about vamps:
All vampires possess characteristics of both humans and demons. They retain their human appearance, as they were human before they became vampires, and so share neither demonic height nor demonic horns and other features. However, their demonic intolerance of sunlight means most have a sickly pallor from nights upon nights without the touch of the sun. They are carnivores who are incapable of consuming anything other than blood and meat. While they can feed from animals, they crave the flesh of sentient beings and some feed off of goblins, humans, demons, dragons and even, when they can get away with it, other vampires. They share the demonic vulnerability to consecrated items but also their long life, aging not as humans do but rather retaining an appearance of youth until they simply, one day, dissolve into ash. Their senses are incredibly keen, they are strong-though not as strong as demons-and they heal rapidly.
The first vampire was a scientist and he had demonic help in his research. There's no spontaneous magical ability. For Alber to have magic at all, he would have had to have that ability before becoming a vampire.
