Yes, this is a real park in Atlanta, in the heart of Midtown. My descriptions are all accurate of the park, even in present day - with the minor exception of the drainage ditch. It was covered a few years ago to make way for a large playing field. When younger, we used to walk in the culvert as it was very deep and wide, usually littered with trash in the 70s too - not to mention, men used to sit on the cement walls at night in the dark looking for sex!
