Perhaps Writing.com is an anomaly to traditional ratings systems, or perhaps staff unwittingly assumed that most people would interpret the ratings system the same way they did.
Well, if you're interpreting 'anomaly' as the
deviation from normal, usual
I'd say yes, and yea for it. I've been to those other sites, most don't use rates at all. The ones who do are like here, some scream and cry and others don't, but most of the rates are stuck at four and five. The reviews are much, much less. There are very few in-depth's given anywhere. Most are short with no real helpful suggestions. Just like here. We could change that if we really wanted to.
Staff describes most of these as 'guidelines', so member's take advantage of the word and use their own made-up guidelines. That's where the problems lie and why the rating system is so skewed.
There aren't many of us, but I am one who does interpret it in the same way.
