I don't think anyone would argue with Elisa or Davy that the bolded statements don't reflect how some (perhaps even most) people actually use the site.

At the same time, this is the official how-to-use item for that feature, and as people used to say about questions of whose rules take precedence: When in Rome, do as the Romans.

Perhaps if staff had intended the site's main focus to be showcasing finished work, instead of WIPs, they'd have called it Written.Com.


... It doesn't look like anyone remembers what the item used to say, so I guess let's just let that question drop out of the discussion.
