Hmm, and I'm thinking that, based on your little blurb on how Krusniks came about, that, to give vamps enough time to become a menace (thanks to the 'evil' side), that Alber might have fought only towards the very end of the wars. Would that work for you? He would have been born in very perilous times, probably groomed to fight from an early age.
