We like it hot and sexy! |
Hey Tim! I've often cross posted novels between here and Romance. As far as the sex thing goes...there are romance lines that are "sweet" and the sex is behind closed doors. These are not the ones in the checkout at the store...lol Harlequin does have a couple sweet lines...you'd do well to check out their requirements, etc. Almost all the other NY romance pubs out there want the sex to be out in the open...not erotica, with no blushing when the raunchy words are used, but more sensual. However, they are more explicit than you might imagine. And when you ask romance readers if they mind reading a hot sex scene, it's almost a unanimous NO. In fact, that's part of why they read romance. I'm not saying that "closed doors" sex doesn't exist...there is a market...it's just not the main romance market. Now, if you are really aiming at mainstream suspense with a romantic subplot, that's another thing all together. This is where the mystery/action will drive the plot and the characters' feelings take a back seat. In that case, you will more easily find a home for it with the closed doors Just some things to keep in mind while you're writing.
