The home security going bananas is "Demon Seed" - which version did you read - the newer reworked version is fantastic. I read it in one day - so tight and packed with suspense - but it is plot not character driven - though it was originally written back in the early '70's adn was one of his first stories.

The voodoo doll has got me thinking for now - My wife is a huge Koontz fan, so I'll ask her - though she prefers his newer novels (unlike me).

Hope that helps ... Think I'll hunt out Demon Seed again ...
