Characters: Emma and Dick

Emma is agonizing over ehr uncharacteristic bout of hot sex with a stranger, and it seemed she was also feeling a little sorry for herself about the rut her life is in

Dick is confused and, yes, hurt over the way she ran from. He wants to get to know her, to have lunch and just talk without that hot sex. She turns him down--I wanted to scream at ehr for being an idiot. The man is itnerested in ehr personally not just sex.


Plot: While wallowing in self-pity, Emma goes for a run and meets up with Dick, who asks her to lunch, to talk and get to know each otehr. She turns him down, knowing she hurt him with her abrupt flight.

Grammaticals: None noted

Comment: Great chapter with more of Emma's personal feelings. She strikes me as indulging in self-pity here but we get a glimpse of her life in the past and the life her mother led. What is Emma afraid of? Ending up like her mother or ending up alone because she doesn't have the guts to try? What will she do next? Will she run into Dick again? They work in the same building, after all. At the end of this chapter I kind of felt sorry for Dick rather than Emma and I wonder if he will give up so easily. Can't wait to see what happens next!
