I'm looking for a little advice here. Most of you have far more experience than I do with publishers. I have none except that I sold the short story (about 20 pages) in question once to an online romance ezine (retaining all rights) and it was also published in a local mag (retaining all rights). Several weeks ago, an editor from amirapress.com somehow found her way into my port and read a non-fiction romance story I wrote entitled "Lost in the Spectrum of Blue Eyes." This editor sent me an email requesting that I submit this story to amirapress for publication, along with a plan for promotion. I've been agonizing over this ever since.
First, I know nothing about self-promotion and what it involves, much less submitting a plan. Even stranger, I've looked at this publisher's web site and have not found a single instance of a non-fiction story ever being published by them. I have checked out that the editor is indeed associated with them. In addition, I've been told by just about every who has read this story that I should expand it into a full-length novel and there are even a few who suggest I pursue the story as a screenplay.
I'm no closer to knowing what to do today, than I was two weeks ago. I guess what I'm looking for is thoughts on this company, why they would want a non-fiction piece, advice on self-promotion, or just about anything, that might help me get a little closer to making some sort of decision. Thanks for any thoughts on this.
