Anthology: I'm wondering....Demons/Death/Evil...Oh, my!
by A Non-Existent User
...Okay. I read through all of the anthology posts...or at least I think I did, and I'm seeing something very consistent running through them all. We have a couple of writers who are good at writing about evil people and bad things happening while having sexual encounters. And then we have a group of writers who are uncomfortable with the icky parts that, really, aren't that sexy.

But what's really sexy is angst. Look at all the really good erotic/romantic/whatever stories that really got you hot and there's angst.

Now...I don't know if we want to take this turn, but hear me out...in DS, my demons are bad, yes, but only in making a person see how their making their own personal hell. Basically, they take someone who is--okay. Like me. I'm having a hard time with my overbearing parents and not being able to be with my kids. I was living in that house and was having problems being with my kids. Soooooo...in a figurative sense, using the theories I developed for the book, a demon came by, took my kids away from me and showed me--through putting me through HELL--that I can survive without my kids and life will go on. And, technically, he would have shown me what actions I took--or didn't take, in my case--that I need to take responsibility for.

So.....my idea would be that he's this kind of demon and not the "just ucky evil" demon, and he finds people who are bordering on a sin, who are tempted to fall into the sin, and then takes them to the extreme in a very sexual manner and then once the lesson has been taught, he leaves.

No one dies. There's no bloody mess. And we still get lots of sex and all of our writers--and readers--should be more comfortable with the story as a whole.

What do you think?

Love,
Frankie
