Pretty much the same reason. Always being the geeky kid that no one wanted around in school lead to the idea of wanting to escape. Reading Fantasy worked the best, many of the characters (while not geeky) didn't fit in yet made the world around them conform to their thoughts in the end...

Now - well now I can't read anything but what's via internet because living overseas I have no access to true S/F or Fantasy Novels unless they're on the N.Y Bestsellers list for at least a month running. I write it because I love it, I know it, I live and breath it. Without it I would be nothing but a hollow shell.

Enough reasoning?
