Hey Jen, from one Jen to another, if this is fictional than no, if you are basing your characters one real people and are using them in a true story then yes. I base my novels out of Santa Fe,NM which is where I live, however I do not have to have the permission of the residents, towns are public property...*supposedly* anyway if it is true than yes you have to gain permission from the people you use, if it is not true than no!!
