A place to mingle and meet friends. |
I have a friend who was raised LDS. He has the testimony and he loves the Church... However, he recently admitted that he is gay, and after 10 years of fighting with it, he's actually beginning to act on those feelings. It's really hard for him, and a lot of us. We're trying to be supportive, but so much of the Church is just... anti-homosexuality. They don't really teach us what we're supposed to do, and I don't know where to even start with LDS doctrine about... well, being gay in the Church. I know it's not accepted and his simply acting on it is forbidden, but... I've heard stories about people who have lived with it and still lived righteously. I just wish I knew how to approach him. I can do the supportive thing, I just wish I had a way of setting him on the right path of... for lack of a better word, overcoming this. He doesn't have the courage to talk to his bishop, to afraid of being judged and condemned... Does anyone know of any general authorities who have given talks on the topic? Ones that would behelpful? I found one by Dallin H. Oaks, but it spends more time talking about how it's a sin and not a thing of nature more than it discusses how to deal with it... *sigh* ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **
