Turns out, my favorite romance is probably going to be between Duranier and Danai (from Houses of the Moon and Star), but not because of how it goes there. I kinda wish I had a more obscure answer so I could sound cool. I like them because of the whole 'destined to be together' crap that, throughout the series, you find out is more or less bunk. That realization causes quite a few problems between them, but not before the idea of having destiny decide they should be together irks…one of them. But I like that it ends all fairy tale in the first book. I have no idea why. I am aware that that sort of thing will more than likely turn off the kind of readers I'd like to attract to the whole series, but I'm not sure I'm willing to do anything about it. Maybe I don't actually want to get published. That, and to show that the best possible match of all the romances in all the series was between two people that never actually get together. The romance that gets the most attention, and has been linked in I-don't-know-how-many different peoples' romance newsletters, however, is in "Invalid Item" That one actually freaks me out because one time it started getting reviews and I couldn't figure out why everyone was reading it all the sudden. Then one of the reviewers was kind enough to tell me they'd picked it up from a link in someone's newsletter. Wow, I feel like I answered your questions, but it might not look that way. Fine, then. Let's be precise. Anything you've discovered to work quite well for realism? I interrogate my significant other. We go over exactly what we were thinking about each other when we met, when we were friends for the two years we knew each other before we started dating, what we thought when we saw each other in relationships with different people (this was long before either of us so much as considered one another for such a role), and anything else I can think of that pertains to something I'm writing. I'm serious. He does this for me. And he's never read a single thing I've written. Then, there's the long hours of staring off into space, considering my feelings on other people in the past or...now. For realism, you have to understand that no matter how in love you are, you still notice other people. Everyone says that, but almost nobody understands it and I'm not sure I've ever seen it written correctly. In fact, I'm a little peeved about this right now because of something I've recently read, but it was by a Writing.com member, so I'll not go into it. And finally, what's the worst romance you've ever read? Excluding romance novels. *triestoimagineevermakingmywaythroughanactualromancenovel* {e:fails} *hasanotherflashofthestoryialludedtojustbeforethis* Hmm. Published material... The Legacy of Herot by Nevin and Pournelle -- It's been awhile since I read it, but the main character just...had the hots for these two women, both of whom ended up being his wives. It never really “shows” that he’s attracted to either one of them. I wish I could explain better just why it blew so hard, but I'd have to read it again and that ain't happenin'! ~Chy ** Image ID #1048710 Unavailable ** ** Image ID #1096948 Unavailable ** |
