A slam prompt based evenings ramble

It's an entry to the slam, but I wanted to see it in a different format. *Bigsmile*



Born in the summer of sixty one
in the shadows of Camelot’s rule.
A destine child during the summer of lies.
Left to wonder at what our fathers had done,
while I grew up trying to be cool
beneath the southern skies

At eighteen I knew it all, everything under the sun.
Only to find at twenty one, that I was still a fool.
Weeping at my loss in innocence eyes
I grew to learn that life’s no fun
watching from the kiddie end of the pool,
while others make the choice of who lives and who dies.
Cattle led to the slaughter.

Silent tears followed the years, one by one.
Desperation led to separation in personalities that I found dual,
clustered all together each lost within the other, one cries.
And here it is I find myself trapped in the deeds I’ve done.
Those both good and bad, in search of the golden rule,
the one where nobody dies

And the casualties of battles both lost and won
are tallied against me like a well turned tool.
Forced to face again the cost of my lies,
to repeat again the regrets my son.
Caution thrown hither against the tides of the cruel
years ahead where no one wins, but everybody tries.
Even our sons and our daughters
