Thank you for the email you sent, sharing this poem with me

A soldier sat behind a wall
And death was all around
He saw his friends slowly die
Bleeding on the ground

Flying missiles fill the air
The battle rages on
The soldier only sits and stares
All his nerves have gone

Explosions ripped the ground apart
Bodies torn asunder
He closed his eyes to hide the view
But couldn’t stop the thunder

How did I get here, he thought
I do not want to die
Fear had torn his soul apart
As he began to cry

Shaking now from head to toe
The men around him dying
A thunder crash a lightning flash
He knew that he was flying


He hit the ground with a sickening sound
His bones all cracked and broken
The army sent his body home
A prayer for him was spoken
