A Muse can be anything that inspires a writer.

Usually it is something that comes and goes, and it is often referred to as being alive as well.

For many of us, it is a dragon. Some have fairies and so on.

Every writer has a Muse though, and I do believe it can be an inanimate object as well. Just ask my last chocolate cake...
