I cross the shoreline and kick the surf
my foot leaving imprints in the sand
as I turn my head to the headland
and see you there looking down.
You look away, but i saw your longing
as you go back to your typewriter
rip out another page
before shifting your gaze back to me.
I climb the foothill and watch as you stare.
My skirt inches as I clamber.
You lick your lips greedily now,
I see your breath in the morning air
as you suck in knowing I see you.
I lean on your balcony watch as you write.
Your fingers shake on the keys.
I whisper to you knowing you listen
and you shiver a while.
"Polly" I chant, leaving my name
lingering in your ear
as you type faster now
the page dancing as each stroke
leaves the lasting impression.
Then I leave, clambering down the hill again
before rushing through the trees
into the woods where I know you will follow
where I know you will rest your head
on heaving boosom and sigh there
in a drunken state
the foul whiskey on your breath.
I lay myself down on mossy bank
lift my gartered leg.
You come and you take
and I am immortalised.
