My genre that I have never written anything in is Crime/Gangster. I never cared for Crime/Gangster movies or books as a kid or an adult. I grew up on a farm. I knew tractors, fields, barns and gardens. Work clothes were blue jeans, a t-shirt, work boots, and a farm hat. When my dad dressed up for events, he was in cowboy boots, dress pants, dress shirt, a sports coat, a bolo tie and a cowboy hat. He had a suit but only wore it for funerals. Before I went to kindergarten, my favorite outfit was a dress or shirt with a skirt and my cowboy boots. At that age, dad and I had matching cowboy hats. Needless to say, we weren't in an area where crime bosses were a thing. I don't remember my family ever watching the Godfather movies. I still haven't. Maybe the closest thing I have watched to gangsters is the version of the Punisher with Travolta. Thinking about it, maybe that is what says it all for me. I liked the movie, but there was so much pain and misery in it. So much distrust and lying inside the crime family. Taking down the bad guys and getting vengeance for his family, all for that. But watching it once was enough. In my research about them, I can see the aspect of combining another genre as a subset to enhance the story and maybe I could do it that way, but it still would be very, very far down the list of things I want to write.
