Play along and collect a paycheck every two weeks. |
Task 3 Emails all sent as I typed them and also posted here for the activity. Thank you so much to those who took the time to review my portfolio and share their thoughts. I know there isn't much to look at right now due to my hiatus, but that also meant I was hungry for those ideas and encouraging words that I received. I will be sending out specific thank-you responses in the coming week, now that the newest member of my is settling in and allowing me the chance to work on my life and hobbies again. Portfolio Review #1 | Angelica Weatherby- Snowangel Hello, Angelica! I hope it's okay; I chose to explore your portfolio as part of Task 3 for 26 Paychecks. Portfolio Tab I want to start out by saying that I love your username and your handle! Your portfolio page is definitely utilized to its fullest benefit. Your portfolio header offers a concise yet comprehensive introduction to you and the writing you present here, and three activities are listed in your Highlighted Items. I really like your portfolio's ocean theme, in agreement with your 'dragonfish' handle! Exploring your portfolio folders does feel like diving into the ocean. Review Tab Your review requests are ON, and the description you provide about your approach to reviewing is very straightforward and easy to understand. I also like that you've stated what you will not review; I feel this field is underused and I think it's very helpful. You've completed lots of reviews in your time, which is awesome! I also notice that you review in affiliation with the disABILITY WRITERS GROUP. Biography Tab I love the photo you have for your Biography Tab! Where is that? You have something written for every field, giving visitors a healthy dose of basic information. Your writing style is listed as 'freestyle', so lots of freedom there to play around with whatever you want, which I also like. We seem to have some things in common, as I also enjoy Nancy Drew, The Lord of the Rings, and C.S. Lewis. I also think it's cool that you list the Boxcar Children; I read that growing up, too! The item you have listed in your Recommended Items appears to be a review group, which is consistent with your Review Tab. Notebook Tab Your Notebook Tab is active without being overwhelming, which is a balance I hope to achieve someday. You're good at promoting activities you're participating in, and I've enjoyed reading the little personal updates you post every so often. Your Notebook feels very sweet and personable. Blog Tab Your blog feels every bit as lighthearted and fun-loving as the rest of your portfolio does, which is thoroughly enjoyable! Even more than in your Notebook, you write personal updates in your blog that are fun to read. You enjoy scrapbooking and crocheting! My sister crochets and has just begun teaching me how. The blanket you made is gorgeous! Community Tab You have received lots of merit badges and trophies, and lots of community recognitions. You're very active on forums and in reviewing. You've even created some trinkets! I enjoyed diving through your portfolio! I hope you have a good rest of your week! Write on! ~Lynn - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Portfolio Review #2 | Brandiwyn🎶 Hello, Brandiwyn! I chose to explore your portfolio as part of Task 3 for 26 Paychecks. Portfolio Tab The first thing I noticed from your Portfolio Tab, besides the lovely picture you have, is the beautifully formatted poem in your portfolio header. I love the message it expresses about being a work in progress. Three activities are listed in your Highlighted Items, each of which sounds engaging and interesting. You have folders designated for different types of writing, which makes your portfolio nicely organized. A couple of things I haven't seen in very many portfolios are folders for pieces of writing contributing to larger works (i.e. The Nuts and Bolts) and for autobiographical works. Both of these things are very cool, and I find myself feeling very curious to explore and read your stuff! Your portfolio is also encouraging me to think a little more broadly and creatively about my own portfolio as I continue writing into the future. Review Tab From your Review Tab, I can see you have completed a significant number of reviews. Although the page doesn't provide a description of your review style, a casual perusal of your reviews reveals you to be a detailed and meaningful reviewer, which I love because I think that's so valuable and it's what I want my review style to be. Biography Tab Your photo and About Me description confirmed what I had wondered about from the photos I saw on both your Portfolio and Review Tabs: that you're a musician and an educator. It's awesome to see you've also been a career scientist! I'm curious to find out how much of that plays into some of your writing. I love what you wrote about your writing style! It's specific, insightful, well composed, and humorous! Based on that description, I think I'll enjoy your writing. Notebook Tab You post regularly on your Notebook Tab with some personal updates as well as notes about what you're up to around the site. I find your notes very enjoyable and they're making me consider what I can do to make my own Notebook shine with my own unique fun and creativity. Blog Tab You do have a blog attached to your Blog Tab, and the description you have for it, outlining what to expect, immediately piques my interest and makes me want to start reading it. I've never seen this kind of strategic approach to blogging and I love it! Community Tab As with most members who've been around longer than I have, you have received many merit badges and trophies. You're active in forums and have collected lots of trinkets. The merit badges you have received show how much you have offered the WDC community in terms of engagement, generosity, and encouragement. I'm happy to have crossed paths with you and your portfolio for this activity, and I've fan'd you so that I don't forget to come back and read your writings. You've been a very kind and generous presence since my joining the site, but I haven't gotten to be very familiar with your portfolio yet. I've chosen to take this opportunity to correct this issue as I complete Task 3 for the 26 Paychecks activity. Portfolio Tab In addition to your lovely picture, your portfolio header is composed of large, easy to read text with fun colors and expressive of your positive and encouraging personality, reminding us all to slow down, have fun, and enjoy life for what it is -- challenging processes and all. I love it! Groups and activities comprise your Highlighted Items. Not only that; they also indicate where your passion lies, which is a fantastic way to use this section! Your portfolio has many different folders each designated for a particular purpose or type of writing, keeping the place organized and easy to navigate. It also makes me want to navigate it and explore what you've got going on! Not only does your portfolio feature things you've written; it is also clearly a hub of fun, positive activity. Review Tab Your Review Tab shows that you've completed a great many reviews. Your review requests are ON, and while you don't provide a description of your review style, a casual look at your past reviews answers all the pertinent questions. Your reviews are concise, to the point, and fundamentally meaningful. It's writers like yourself that I need to spend more time learning from because although I appreciate my own verbosity, I really could learn to tighten and focus it up more. How to express what I have to say with fewer words is one of my long-term writing goals, and reviews like yours have a lot to teach me on that point. Biography Tab Your Biography Tab does a nice job introducing visitors to who you are and what is important to you. I love how you express yourself and your faith so naturally -- another thing I can learn from. Your described writing style resonates with me because I also enjoy an eclectic style and experimenting creatively with writing. As I read down through your bio, how naturally and beautifully your faith and your love just oozes out of what you have written truly inspires me to let my own faith and love flow. It reminds me of the spiritual and emotional parts of my resolution for this year. I also love that you list your other hobbies, which I'm happy to see includes gardening because that is something I enjoy, also! You list your group memberships, which I feel is an underused field of the bio and I'm reminded that I do have a group or two to add to my own. I think that anybody who reads your Biography Tab comes away with a healthy knowledge and appreciation for who you are as a person as well as a writer. Your Recommended Item reiterates your beautiful commitment to reviewing. Notebook Tab You post very regularly on your Notebook, with both personal thoughts and updates on your writing. Blog Tab You do have a blog attached to your Blog Tab, and it seems to be a lovely blog for whatever and wherever inspiration takes you. Like your reviews, your blog entries are concise and meaningful. Community Tab Out of the portfolios I have explored for 26 Paychecks, yours has by far the most community recognitions, merit badges, and trophies -- a testament to not only your participation on the site but also to the light and love that you share with others. You're very active on forums, have collected tons of trinkets and created many others, and have given out almost as many merit badges as you have received. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to explore your portfolio and properly get to know you as a member. Thanks for being you, and I hope you have a great rest of your week! Write on! ~Lynn |
